Chromepet Madhva Seva Trust runs the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha, Sri Anjaneya and Sri Guru Raghavendra Mrittika Brindavan situated at Karumariamman Koil II Street, Padmanaba Nagar, Hasthinapuram, Chromepet, Chennai 600 044. The Brindavan stands very close to the Hasthinapuram Bus Terminus.
Chromepet was once a small hamlet on the southern fringe of Madras, named after the chrome-tanning units the Britishers established here. In 1963, Sri K. V. Ranga Rao migrated from George Town and quietly began unifying the few Madhva families scattered across the suburb. By late 1965 the Madhva Sangha was born — inspired by his Guruji, Sri Krishnagiri Raghavendra Achar of Kuppam — and weekly classes on Sumadhva Vijaya, Harikathaamruthasara and Devara Namas began in devotees' homes.
What started in living rooms grew into Madhva Navami celebrations, Sri Raghavendra Swamy Aradhanas and Sunday lectures. In 2000–01 the Sangha was formalised as a seva-focused Trust under the leadership of Sri R. Sridharan, the present Managing Trustee, who has carried forward Paata Pravachana of Sumadhva Vijaya, Srimanmahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya and Harikathamruthasara without interruption.
A long-cherished dream of building a Dhyana Mantapam took shape in October 2010 when Sri K. Rama Rao offered a site near the Hasthinapuram bus stand. Bhoomi Pooja was performed on 26 January 2011 by His Holiness Sri Sri Vidya Manohara Tirtha of Sosale Vyasaraja Mutt, and the Mrittika Brindavan that stands today is the fruit of that long journey.
The Mutt enshrines a Mrittika Brindavan of Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy alongside the divine forms of Lord Narasimha, Lord Hanuman and Lord Dhanvantari — together a complete refuge for the devotee.
The Mrittika Brindavan carries sacred earth from Mantralayam — the eternal seat of Rayaru, the compassionate Kalpavruksha Kamadhenu of devotees in this Kali Yuga.
The fierce and protective form of Sri Hari, worshipped here with Sri Mahalakshmi seated upon His lap — dispeller of fear and grantor of fearless devotion.
Mukhya-prana, the foremost devotee of Lord Rama and the original Guru of the Madhva tradition — giver of strength, courage and unshakable bhakti.
The physician of the devas, the source of Ayurveda and bestower of health. His grace blesses the well-being of every household that worships here.
From weekly Sunday discourses to grand annual Aradhanas, the Mutt sustains an unbroken tradition of teaching, chanting and seva — open to every devotee, family and visitor.
Sunday evening classes on Sumadhva Vijaya, Srimanmahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya and Harikathamruthasara, continuing with devotion and discipline across generations.
The annual Vardanthi of Rayaru is celebrated with three days of poojas, parayana and maha-mangalarathi — the spiritual highlight of the Mutt's calendar.
The Sangha has celebrated Madhva Navami grandly for over fifty years — honouring the Acharya whose Sampradaya the Mutt belongs to.
The Mutt preserves the Sampradaya Madhva Bhajana Paddhati in Tamil according to Taratamya scheme — pioneered for Tamil Nadu in 1978.
Sri Hanumath Jayanti, Sri Narasimha Jayanti, Vaikuntha Ekadashi, Sri Krishna Janmashtami and Sri Rama Navami are observed with traditional poojas and prasadam.
An annual handbook on Madhva Sastra, and Tamil works including Sriman Mahabharatha Tatparya Nirnayam (11 volumes) and Sriman Madhva Vilasa by Sri R. Sridharan.
The Mutt is a short walk from the Hasthinapuram Bus Terminus, easily reachable from Tambaram, Pallavaram and central Chennai.
